Baptist purchases former Union Ave. Post Office building

Baptist evaluating the services to bring to Midtown location

On Wednesday, March 20, Baptist Memorial Health Care announced the acquisition of 1520 Union Ave., giving the organization a major presence in Midtown Memphis.

“The purchase of this site demonstrates the continued commitment of Baptist Memorial Health Care to our community,” said Jason Little, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Baptist Memorial Health Care. “This location will allow Baptist to enhance patient convenience by providing an additional point of access for patients in the Midtown and downtown areas.”

At this time, Baptist is researching the clinical needs for the Midtown Memphis area to determine what services will be offered at the location.

The 11,470-square-foot location will be one of the largest locations outside of the five hospitals in the metro region.

The next phase in the project will include planning, design and construction.

The anticipated opening date is early 2014.
